About Holly Ratafia (Principal), IES

Currently based in Southern California, Holly graduated with a Masters in Architectural Lighting from The New School’s Parsons School of Design after years designing lighting for performance events.  In a theater as well lighting for architecture, it is not only what people see but how they feel and move in that environment that constitute a successful lighting design.  Holly has over fifteen years and is energized by all aspects of the work.

She also hold degrees at Lesley University in cultural studies and from UCLA in theater arts.  A great advocate for education; the formal and the informal,  she has taught architectural lighting at the Boston Architectural College and worked as a production manager for a university theater department (Brown University).

She is also a great believer in working to expand the profession and contribute her skills – to local arts and non profit organizations; as a mentor; and within professional organizations. She is currently Secretary for the Color Committee within the Illuminating Engineering Society and was for four years, the technical committee chair and founding member of the Rhode Island regional chapter of the US Green Building Council.
